What could be better than a soft summer evening outdoors experiencing live music. We think not much and so every summer the Hilliard Arts Council hosts a Sunday evening concert series featuring an eclectic mix of performers and music styles. The concerts are free to the public and held in front of the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center beginning at 7pm (we move inside the building if the weather’s bad). Our concerts are in the DORA zone so feel free to bring a beverage from any of the participating taverns and restaurants.
The Digs, a Columbus-based rockabilly band will be making an appearance this week. What is rockabilly? As the name suggests, its music drawing on two primary influences: country music and rock music. It’s roots are in the American south in the 1950’s – think early Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins and you will have a good sense of what to expect. The band performs a pretty wide range of songs from that era including some R&B and surf music as well.
This year the Summer Concert is made possible in part due to the generous support of Coffee Connections, Rotary Club of Hilliard and Destination Hilliard.
