Hilliard Arts Council is excited to venture into the virtual world, providing a variety of virtual arts experiences via ZOOM in lieu of its usual summer arts camps. Students can participate in an audition workshop, voice lessons, virtual theater or dance classes.  Courses begin June 22 and run through July so we are sure you’ll find something to try and grow your skills this summer! Audition class image preview course times & dates

Virtual Audition Class: Intermediate – Advanced skill level Ages: 4th-12 grade. Students will learn how to audition effectively for plays, commercials and more. Cost: $50. per student for each week. Session weeks: June 22-26 and July 13-17. 4th-6th grade students class time – 10-10:45 a.m. 7th-12th grade students class time -11-11:45 a.m.

Instructor: Christa Linquist, a theater actor for over 15 years and a talent agent for 6 years. She has worked with executive producers and casting directors to book everything from local commercials and musicals to episodic tv shows and feature films. Christa has appeared in several local musicals including Hilliard Arts Council’s very own productions of Hairspray as Amber and Shrek as the Wicked Witch. 

Class Overview: There will be a combination of group and individual instruction over 5 consecutive days. In this audition class Christa will break down the audition process and help actors connect to any material. She has combined all of the best tips and information from her personal experience in casting as well as acting to create an informative and versatile experience for each aspiring actor. Christa is super excited to pass along her knowledge and make everyone feel as confident as possible when walking in to any audition!

Voice Lessons: Beginning – Advanced Level Ages: 4th grade to Adult Cost: $30/session ($120/full series). Series begins the week of June 22nd. There will be a link to schedule your individual session.

Instructor: Logan Fletcher, director of Hilliard Community Chorus and music teacher at Hilliard Crossing Elementary.

Session Overview: Individual 30-minute classes can be scheduled beginning the week of June 22nd on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 11 a.m. Classes will be for 4 weeks. At the end of the 4 week period a virtual recital will be held.

Virtual Theater: Intermediate Level Ages: 4th-8th grade Cost: $50 per student.. This camp has been consolidated into the week of July 27-31 at 10am Play is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Students will participate in an online play reading of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The end of each week will include a performance for friends and family members via Zoom.

Instructor: Linda Sheppard, a retired drama teacher who taught at Otterbein University and Fort Hayes High School for the Performing Arts. She recently directed How to Eat Like a Child for HAC.

Virtual Broadway Dance class: Beginner-Intermediate Level Ages: Elementary -Middle school students Cost: Class is $50/household ZOOM dates: 3-3:30pm Tuesdays and Thursdays – July 7 & 9, 14 & 16, 21 & 23, 28 & 30.

Instructor: Amy Lang has been a professional choreographer for the last 18 years. Favorite shows she has choreographed include Matilda, Newsies, Urinetown, Little Shop of Horrors, and The Craft: The Britney Spears Musical. In addition to being a choreographer, Amy has appeared on television and in an Off-Broadway musical. She is an award-winning performer who started a successful theatre company in NYC where she produced, directed, wrote, choreographed, and starred in multiple musicals. Amy has also been a performing arts teacher for over a decade and loves passing on what she has learned to budding Broadway stars

Overview: Participants will learn how to dance like Broadway stars! Learn everything from common steps found in almost every Broadway show, to how to sell it like a professional! Each week students will learn new Broadway-style choreography (as well as some actual Broadway choreography!). On the last day of class friends and family are invited to attend a virtual recital to see what students have worked on. All classes will be held on Zoom and will be recorded so students can make-up any missed classes. Sign up and get ready to get moving and have some fun.
