Eugene Jerome, standing in for the author, is the narrator and central character. Dreaming of baseball and girls, Eugene must cope with the mundane existence of his family life in Brooklyn: formidable mother, overworked father, and his worldly older brother Stanley. Throw into the mix his widowed Aunt Blanche, her two young (but rapidly aging) daughters and you have a recipe for hilarity, served up Simon-style. Theatre for kids, by kids! The Hilliard Arts Council is gearing up for our next special children’s theatre production – Alice in Wonderland This adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland begins with the Cheshire Cat standing in front of the rabbit hole entrance into Wonderland. The Cat will soon be joined by the White Rabbit sliding down his hole into Wonderland, and Alice whose overwhelming curiosity entices her to follow the White Rabbit into this wonderfully upside-down world of strange creatures, playing cards that speak, Queen of Hearts, Mad Hatters, Tweedle twins, cracked eggs, tea parties, games of croquet and riddles galore. On Golden Pond

We are thrilled to announce our spring 2018 show is On Golden Pond.  On Golden Pond is a 1979 play by Ernest Thompson. The plot focuses on aging couple Ethel and Norman Thayer, who spend each summer at their home on a lake called Golden Pond. During the year the story takes place, they are visited by daughter Chelsea with her fiancé Billy Ray and his son Billy Ray Jr. The play explores the often turbulent relationship the young woman shared with her father growing up, and the difficulties faced by a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage. “Empty Bowls” Project

As part of the 2019 Holiday Hop and 30th Annual Tree Lighting, The Hilliard Arts Council is partnering with the City of Hilliard Recreation and Parks Department and other groups to present the “Empty Bowls” Project. The Empty Bowls Project is an international, grassroots, crafts-based effort to end hunger. Help us kick off the holiday season buy helping others in our community. Just purchase a hot bowl of soup, served in your bowl of choice, for $10. Simple. Many of these “Empty Bowls”  were hand thrown and glazed by students from all three Hilliard high schools. All proceeds are donated to the Hilliard Food Pantry, devoted to fighting hunger in our community. The Hilliard Arts Council is currently expanding the search for friendly, collaborative, energetic, creative, forward-looking people to fill an open position on our executive board. The Hilliard Arts Council is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that exists to enhance the cultural and economic vitality of our city by inspiring, enlivening and educating our citizens through the arts. As a member of the HAC board, you will play an active roll in the development of HAC plans and programs and help chart the future course of this growing arts organization.
