Though the characters may be familiar, each of your favorite storybook fables is uproariously derailed in this adaptation of Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith’s quintessential children’s book of fractured fairy tales. Everything from “Chicken Little” to “The Gingerbread Man” gets a complete makeover. Fun music and witty narration accompany the likes of ineloquent giants, sassy barnyard animals, colossal cow pies, and enough stinky cheese to go around.
Audition Expectations: I will be moving 5 – 10 auditioners into the PAC at any one time and have them read a small scene from the script so I can get a clearer idea of the types of characters best suit each actor. The reading will be a cold reading this time, which is why I do not have any attached scenes.
After I excuse each group of auditioners, they are excused to leave. The script is written with the intent of having 7 performers (4 Male, 3 Female) playing multiple roles. However, I plan to cast anywhere from 15 to 18 actors and have them portray 1 to 3 characters. Additionally, I may ask any auditioners to perform various animal impersonations which may
include a frog, a duck, a chicken, a red hen, a rooster, a goose, an owl, a fox, a wolf, a cow, a rabbit, or a tortoise. There are also a few princes & princesses, little old men & women, a giant, Rumpelstiltskin, Jack, Lil’ Red Running Pants, nasty stepmother and stepsisters, King & Queen, a surgeon general, and a legal guy plus more.
Rehearsals will be held every Monday thru Thursday, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., Saturday 10 – 11:30 a.m., and Sunday 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. thru to

***Due to a limited budget we must ask for a $30 costume fee. If this fee is a detriment due to financial limitations, arrangements can be made if you make it clear to us during auditions. This fee is an unfortunate necessity and SHOULD NOT be a preventative measure for participation.
I am sure we will need additional assistance with the costumes. If any parent would be willing to add their expertise to our production, please feel free to inquire during auditions. It will be much appreciated.
