Friday Night Live Music

By on in Archive |

Come spend an evening with Friday Night Live Music, at the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center, on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 7 p.m. Friday Night Live Music is a community outreach musical ensemble in Central Ohio. Directed by NBC4’s Ben Gelber the group performs folk, klezmer and traditional melodies. Originally, the word “klezmer,” from the Yiddish language, meant “vessel of song” and later, simply “musician.” However, it characterizes the style of secular music played by Ashkenazi Jews for joyful celebrations such as weddings. Often, a klezmer band will include a fiddle, a bass or cello, a clarinet and a drum and often hammered dulcimers and an accordion. Meteorologist Jym Ganahl will be on hand to kick off the evening. We hope to see you there. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Hilliard Arts Council.
