Funny Girl Auditions

Auditions for the Hilliard Arts Council Summer Production, Funny Girl, will be held Sat. May 24 from 10-12 or Sunday May 25 from 2-4 at Hilliard Darby High School.  The show will go up July 11, 12 and 13.  Robin Brenneman will direct with Carole Bundy and Ken Brenneman sharing music direction and Scott Brown handling choreography.  For auditions you should sing a song that shows your vocal range—it can be a song from the show if you want.  If you are trying out for Fanny, you should do a song from the show since her songs are tied to her character in many ways.  There will also be a dance audition for a dance corps.  Descriptions of the main characters are below.  Please note that there are many smaller roles plus a chorus that sings in 5 numbers.  If you have questions please contact Ken or Robin at kenrob@columbus.rr.com   Character Descriptions Fanny: Starts at age 19 at the...

Drama Camp

Campers will take part in workshops in both theatre and music.  The week will culminate in a performance of a play that the campers will rehearse throughout the week as well.  Robin Brenneman, retired theatre teacher from Hilliard Davidson High School will be leading the drama activities and Alexa Rybinski, a graduate of Hilliard Darby High School and a graduate from Capital University with a degree in music education will lead the music workshops.  Ed Daniel, technical director and Hilliard Darby High School will teach students about basic scenic design and construction.  Campers will be divided into two groups: grades 1-3 and 4-6. Hilliard Arts Council is proud to present Alfred Uhry’s “Driving Miss Daisy”. This production will benefit The Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center. Join us for pre-show appetizers, a wonderful performance starring Linda Dorff, and a meet and greet following the show. A cash bar will be open 30 minutes prior to the performance as well as during the meet and greet. Driving Miss Daisy takes place in the deep South starting in 1948, just prior to the civil rights movement. Having recently demolished another car, Daisy Wertham, a rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow of 72 is informed by her son, Boolie, that henceforth she must rely on the services of a chauffeur.
